We have a beautiful region, a passionate community and a bright future. Southern Downs Regional Council is now preparing its 2026–2030 Corporate Plan, and we want to hear what you love about our region and what’s most important to you.
As required by the Queensland Government, every five years, Council updates its Corporate Plan, which is our key strategic roadmap that outlines priorities, how we allocate ratepayer dollars and our shared goals for the future.
About the Community-Wide Survey
To ensure the plan reflects the views and experiences of residents across the region, Council has engaged Eris Strategy to undertake a region-wide survey. This will be a comprehensive engagement activity designed to capture community priorities and help shape a clear, community-aligned strategic direction.
A survey pack will be mailed to households across the Southern Downs and will include a reply-paid envelope for easy return. An online version is also available for those who prefer to complete it digitally.
Your feedback is completely anonymous and will help Council understand what matters most to you when it comes to the future of our region — from liveability and housing to local industry, environment and community wellbeing.
If you are ever unsure about any communications you receive, contact Council directly on 1300 697 372 or email mail@sdrc.qld.gov.au to confirm details.
A Corporate Plan is a five-year roadmap that outlines Council’s key priorities, goals and strategic direction.
It provides the framework for:
How Council allocates resources and sets budgets.
The services, programs and infrastructure we deliver.
How we measure progress and report back to the community.
Our current 2021–2026 Corporate Plan is built around the four key themes of People, Places, Prosperity and Performance.
The new 2026–2030 Plan will continue this vision, informed by community input on emerging issues such as liveability, economic development, housing, environment, infrastructure and community wellbeing.
In accordance with the Local Government Act 2009, councils are required to update their Corporate Plan every five years to ensure it remains responsive to changing community needs, economic conditions and regional opportunities.
Your privacy is important to us. All survey responses will be collected and stored in accordance with Council’s QPP Privacy Policy (PL-049), available at www.sdrc.qld.gov.au.
Your personal information will remain confidential and will only be used for the purpose of informing the Corporate Plan.
Once survey results are finalised, Council will analyse the responses — alongside broader community feedback — to draft the new Corporate Plan for adoption in 2026.
Together, we can create a shared vision that celebrates who we are, protects what we value and plans for the future of the Southern Downs.
How To Get Involved
There are two easy ways to take part:
Option 1 – Mailed Hardcopy Survey:
A survey pack has been mailed to all households and includes a reply-paid envelope. Simply complete the survey and return it by post, or drop it at one of Council’s Libraries or Administration Buildings in Warwick, Stanthorpe or Allora.
